Vist Newcastle

Newcastle is a colourful city that’s anything but ordinary. When you indulge your curiosity and uncover Newcastle’s vibrant culture, rich heritage and electric atmosphere, you experience an unexpected feast for the senses and leave with enticing stories and a satisfied spirit. Rather than check in and put your feet up, have your perceptions challenged and seek off beat in our boutique city.

Visit Newcastle

Newcastle acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the lands and pay our respects to the Awabakal and Worimi People who have cared for and nurtured this Country, and all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders past and present.

The beating heart of the Hunter region, Newcastle blends the best of laid back coastal life, with a city bustling with restaurants, events and nightlife. Soak up the beautiful beaches, surf, city, culture, and coffee by day, and sample some of the delicious food and drink on offer by night. It's a city big enough to get lost in and small enough to enjoy on foot.

With its many attractions, outdoor experiences and natural beauty, Newcastle is the ultimate weekend getaway in NSW. Experience the incredible panoramic vistas the coastline has to offer by following the ANZAC Memorial Walk or The Bathers Way Walk, which follows the coastline from Nobby's Beach to Merewether Beach. Explore the array of sandy beaches and take a dip at the ocean baths or iconic Bogey Hole. The great outdoors has never looked so good!

Looking for family fun? The nature reserves of Blackbutt are a must-see and the Hunter Wetlands is accessible and for families and bird lovers alike. Pack a picnic and explore the many walking trails or get up-close-and-personal with weird and wonderful Australian wildlife.  Just 10 minutes from the CBD, you’ll find Glenrock State Conservation Area, nature’s very own adventure playground renowned for its mountain biking trails, and bushwalking trails that lead to Glenrock Lagoon, Burwood Beach and beyond.

Right on our doorstep just an easy hour drive inland is one of Australia’s best wine regions - the Hunter Valley. The Hunter is famous for its Chardonnay, Semillon, and Verdelho for the whites, and Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot for the reds. If beautiful beaches and dunes are more your bag, take a day trip to neighbouring Port Stephens. The stunning shorelines of Anna Bay, Fingal Bay and Nelson Bay await. Thrill-seekers can enjoy a sandboarding or quad biking adventure and make their mark on the sprawling sand dunes.

Why not experience Newcastle like a local? Grab a coffee from one of the many independent cafes dotted around the beaches and CBD and explore what’s on offer at the weekly craft and farmers markets. If you’re an art lover, pop into one (or more!) of the many independent galleries that the city has to offer and keep an eye out for street art at every turn. For those curious at heart, explore the history of Newcastle, as well as the unique temporary exhibits at the Newcastle Museum. Take in a show at the Civic Theatre, with everything from dance and music, to theatre and comedy.

Reward your curiosity and experience the compact and colourful Newcastle on your next getaway.
