Levels of support for renewable energy for electricity, heat and fuel in the United Kingdom have remained relatively unchanged since 2012. In 2012, 79 percent of respondents reported being supportive of the use of renewable energy, while five percent were opposed. This figure rose to 84 percent as of March 2023. The share of respondents who support renewables, however, has presented a growing trend.

Survey methodology up to 2019 was a Kantar face-to-face omnibus survey. Between 2020 and 2021, a temporary Kantar online panel type of survey was introduced, which was not based on a random sample of respondents. In 2022 and 2023, an address based online survey (ABOS) was used. Due to a change in survey methodology, the source states that direct comparisons between time series is not possible.
From 1012 to 2022, the survey was conducted by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), whereas in 2023 it was carried out by the newly created Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ).
