Volkswagen employed more workers than any other car manufacturer in the world, as of June 30, 2022. The company's headquarters are located in Wolfsburg, Lower Saxony. The VW complex in Wolfsburg is the world's largest automobile production facility. Despite the larger workforce, Volkswagen AG had to decrease its vehicle production in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting automotive semiconductor shortage.
