Lockdown might be coming to an end, but that doesn’t mean you’ll be dining out daily anytime soon. If you’re looking for a little cooking inspiration and don’t have time to read through the essays people write on their blogs about recipes, consider Tabitha Brown's perfectly condensed, healthy-ish vegan videos.

Brown’s relaxed videos might be the most calming content on TikTok - or online in general.

Brown, 41, only joined TikTok on March 8 - but she’s since amassed an army of loyal followers who stop by for her smoothie recipes. The vegan chef has cooked up everything from air fryer okra pasta to hearts of palm crab cakes.

The North Carolina-based home chef told NPR that she became a TikTok superstar entirely unexpectedly. "My daughter, who is 18 - she kept telling me, Mom, you should get on TikTok...'cause I think you'll be, like, a good, like, comforting mom for the people on there,” she said explaining, “I really just wanted to do the renegade dance everybody was doing. So I was trying to get her to show me and my brother how to do it.”

She told Buzzfeed that before she went vegan she used to think it "was for white people and that it was for hippies and cults." Now, she says, “You can also be a junk food vegan, and I’m a thick vegan.”

She even has her own catchphrases, offering her more than four million fans a hug and telling them they can cook the way they want because that’s their business.

It's not just recipes - she also offers words of encouragement, telling her fans, "You're going to get through this."

Now, even if you don't have a TikTok you're about to see more of Brown's inventive recipes. The vegan influencer recently got her own show on the Ellen Digital Network, a digital media platform operated by Ellen DeGeneres and Warner Brothers. Her new web show is going to offer all types of advice, including recipes.
