With over 100 medals won from Special Olympics, Patrice Jetter is an accomplished athlete. From bocce, to bowling, cheerleading, figure skating and gymnastics, she proudly displays medals from each sport, each victory on her wall. Patrice serves as a mentor for fellow Special Olympics New Jersey athletes and advocating for the rights of individuals with disabilities everywhere.
Fighting ableism since childhood, Patrice was bullied in school, forced to live in an institution and faced discrimination in the workplace. Through the support of Garry and her community, including Special Olympics, Patrice has become her own self-advocate.
A Hamilton local, Patrice works as a crossing guard, competes in figure skating at her community rink and creates art for all occasions. To tell the story of Patrice is to attempt to capture this incredibly multi-faceted, complex, magnetic soul. Starring in the feature-length documentary film that tells the story of her life, Patrice: The Movie, Patrice fights for love, fights for equality in a style that is all her own.
