How can your support help?
  • By helping young people like Joyce boost their confidence

Joyce, 17, from London, secured virtual work experience placements with Caxton Associates and the Bank of England which allowed her to build much-needed skills as well as boosting her confidence and CV for the future. She now plans to work in finance and feels much better placed to make this happen.

“Since doing work experience, I’ve learnt so much.
I think it’s so important for everyone to get work
experience because you need some sort of
foundation as to how to build your skills.” Joyce, London

  • By helping young people like Josh feel more optimistic

Josh, aged 18 from Darlington, completed work experience with British Airways – following his passion for tourism and desire to make it more sustainable in the future.

“Work experience online helped me feel confident and more secure… Hearing from leaders at British Airways, I gained the opportunities I needed. I feel so much more optimistic about my future.” Josh, Darlington

  • By helping young people like Beau broaden their horizons

Beau, from Birmingham, completed a 3-day work experience placement with Spaceport Cornwall when he was 14 where he came up with the idea for a satellite-controlled app that the local professional fishing community could use to track fish.

“Working with Spaceport Cornwall has further inspired me to pursue a career in aerospace engineering and allowed me to meet people who do jobs similar to those I want later in life.” Beau, Birmingham

Answers to your Frequently Asked Questions

We are always grateful for donations that support our work. If you would like to support Speakers for Schools, please email our fundraising team in the first instance so that we can advise you on the best way to make your donation, and empower young people.

Speakers for Schools is funded by a combination of philanthropic donations, grants and awards from Trusts and Foundations, as well as income generated from commercial contracts and corporate partnerships with like-minded organisations.

Our data reporting tools enable us to track impact in terms of participation rates in our programmes and projects, so we can provide anonymised impact data for restricted funds, as and when required.

Speakers for Schools is registered with the Fundraising Regulator, the independent regulator of charitable fundraising in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. This means you can feel confident that as a charity we uphold the UK's charitable fundraising standards. As an organisation, we are also accountable to our Board of Trustees and to our Youth Council, an advisory panel made up of young people who liaise directly with our Research and Policy teams to ensure that our beneficiaries, young people themselves, also have a voice and are properly represented.
