Victor of the eleventh series of American Idol, Phillip LaDon Phillips (born September 20th 1990), known simply as Phillip Phillips, is an American folk-rock singer-songwriter hailing from Georgia, USA.
Phillip Phillips has certainly made the opportunity of performing on American Idol work to his benefit, selling over four million copies of his coronation song "Home" in the US. His style of music has been compared to Dave Matthews and his band, with other influences including John Butler, Damien Rice and Jonny Lang, heaping to create his brand of soulful, acoustic rock.
His debut album, "The World From The Side Of The Moon" was released on Interscope records on November 19, 2012. The album achieved moderate success, debuting at number four in the Billboard 200, with sales of 169,000 copies, eventually going on to be certified Platinum in August 2013. The album's first single, "Where We Came From" was released as a free download on pre-orders of the album, helping to garner interest at this promise of a free track.
Phillips has overcome a congenital kidney condition that causes the build-up of large kidney stones that are unable to pass. Having undergone extensive treatment and reconstructive surgery, he has overcome this debilitating illness, allowing Phillips to perform to the best of his capabilities without being in pain.
He has toured with major acts, opening for Matchbox Twenty on their 2013 North America tour. He has also opened for John Mayer and also Bruce Springsteen when he appeared at the Brazilian festival Rock in Rio. Philips has been nominated for several awards during his career but has yet to win any of these accolades.
Read moreOh... What a shiny new proper artist we have here. It's been a while since I last saw one of these. Phillip Phillips has literally started from the bottom and now is here. From American Idol to being the highlight during one of the most famous festivals, Rock in Rio, on it's '13 edition, this guy works hard for everything he's achieved so far. Songwriting, impressive guitar skills, a loving personality that translates perfectly to his music and performance live, this kid has everything to be a proper full on artist and entertainer. The short setlist during Rock in Rio did not cut his pace on a big well made concert. From song to song, he made everyone dance and sing out loud in a perfect harmony that lasted even after the show was over. Everybody left thinking about that kid who proved himself in one of the biggest audiences he's ever seen. His vocals are on point, matching the type of music he makes, and his nerves didn't seem to exist - which just exposes what a prepared performer he is. The lyrics flow through the crowd, the dancing melodies match the dancing bodies on the floor, and the harmonies seem to last a lifetime on people's mouths. It's a concert you'll never forget.
I followed Phillip Phillips as he made his way through American Idol. From the beginning I was impressed by his shy, cool, natural personality. As he progressed all the way through to the finals, it was pretty clear that Phillip was something special. But as I thought about seeing Phillip Phillips perform live with a full band, I was a little skeptical as to how good a "performer" he would be. Man.... did he prove himself or what!? Phillip and his band were PHENOMENAL!!! I've listened to his albums, but he is SO MUCH better live. His music comes to life with the amount of power and energy that he and his band play with. It was difficult to choose which musician to watch, because they were each bringing something special to the show. Phillip himself really connected well with the audience. And the audience loved him for it. My love for him and his music grew that night. I am thankful for people like Phillip and his band mates, who are willing to put so much time and energy into giving me (the audience) an experience to remember. Go see Phillip Phillips!!
The show at variety playhouse in Atlanta was fantastic! It was my first time seeing him, though i knew i loved him from his song Home. Think that's the only song i knew, which surprised me. But every single moment of the show was excellent, impressive, and memorable. He is such a special talent, and a hometown boy. His parents were in the audience... Aaaw! His guitar was hot (didn't know he could play like that.) In addition to all of his incredible original songs, he killed very creative covers off wicked ways and thriller, 2 of my all-time faves. I'm beyond glad that i went to this show. i will make every effort to see him again and again, any time i get the chance. Oh, and he's very cute! Did not know that either.
Still going strong! Saying we've missed this guy is synonymous with we prefer to eat 3 meals/day! We've probably seen him live about 11X!!! Can't wait until he's moving about the country again but mostly Florida (hint, hint). Don't hesitate to invest in the time of your lives. Show him the love and admiration he so deserves by filling those seats. Holidays are here soon so bring the entire clan. Looking forward to the next album Phillip! Have a great well deserved tour. See ya soon!

Belly Up was a great, slightly intimate venue & the sightless from the side of the stage were PERFECT! Phillip Phillips was wonderful - funny, engaging, and played for a long time.
However, he did many cover songs (ending with "Thriller"), neglecting to play a few of his biggest hits ("Searchlight," "Unpack Your Heart"). THAT was immensely disappointing & shouldn't have happened. :(
Is this the same shy guy from American Idol ?? Phillip put on the most amazing show ! He played for 1 hr and 40 min. He is a true artist in every sense of the word. The last song he played was "home" his song from American Idol and he had the whole crowd on their feet and singing to it. The most fun we've had in a long time !! Phillip, your a star !!
Perfect venue for Philip and Errol to perform in. We got lucky and had front row seats and i felt like the show was just for me. They are both amazing performers and i will go see them again! Proud of that Georgia boy!! I predicted he would be the winner of AI the minute he walked out to perform for the judges!
Didn't get to see the show. Gates were delayed by 3 hours. Venue sucks. Opening act was finished by the time the line to enter made it to us. This was the most pathetic attempt at running a concert I've ever seen. No digs to Phillip Phillips, none of this was his fault.
Love, love, loved him! We had front, side seats and had the best time. He is amazing and so funny. My son came with me and made him an even bigger fan. I cannot wait to see him again in Philly, hopedully again at the City Winery.
Cheap tickets which is always a good thing for fans. Sat in the front row for $49. Cheap tickets were $25. Great performance. Love the small venue. Little merchandise to buy which was disappointing. Overall, another good concert.
