You live in a rented house and are unable to pay next month’s rent due to financial
problems.
You want to write an email to your landlord.
Write an email to the landlord in about 150-200 words. Your email should include the
following:
• Write the reason why you are writing.
• Write the reason due to which you cannot pay the rent.
• Write what you want the landlord to do.
I hope this email finds you well. I am Anastasia, the resident of the unit 2307 at 1501 Haro
Street. I am writing in regard to my rent for next month.
I wanted to kindly ask you about payment postponement. Firstly, due to some electricity
issues in my apartment, I incurred high bills from the private electrician who came into my
house last weekend to fix it, since you were on holiday. Secondly, I also lost my job last week
and I have some waiting period till I am eligible to get the Employment Insurance (EI);
expected in approximately two weeks from now.
Please I would like you to give me 2 weeks probation period, starting from Monday. As soon
as I start receiving payment from the EI, I will be able to settle the rent expenses.
Thank you very much for your understanding and I hope this works for you. Looking forward
to hearing back from you.
Yours sincerely,
Anastasia
You live in a small town of 10,000 people. A large green area in the center of town is
undeveloped. The city has sent out an opinion survey to see what residents would like to
have built in
that area.
Choose the option that you prefer. Why do you prefer your choice? Explain the reasons for
your choice. Write about 150-200 words.
Option A: Shopping Complex: This shopping mall would include restaurants, a large
supermarket, and a movie theatre.
Option B: Recreational Park: This Park would include a sports complex, a large green area,
and a small petting zoo.
My name is Anastasia, a resident of Todmorden town and I would like to give my humble
convictions on the subject matter.
I definitely agree that Recreational Park (RP) should be constructed in our area and I will
support my point of view with some arguments. Firstly, RP will accommodate the green
area, which is beneficial to the city’s environment; certainly, residents will have an
opportunity to take short walks, indirectly attracting more residents. Secondly, inhabitants
will gain easy access to the sport complex and engage in various physical activities, instead
of time spent commuting to gyms.
Last but not the least, the anticipated petting zoo will be useful for families with young
children. Instead of just using their gadgets, they can play and feed animals.
I appreciate having been given the opportunity to voice my opinion, as well as my concern. I
trust that your final decision will be one that benefits us all.
