Marigold Early Childhood Classroom for 2024-25 School Year
with Ms. Amy and Ms. Karleen

We are excited to announce a sweet reseeding of the land with the simple beauty and rhythm of a Waldorf inspired early childhood class. After a season of quiet dreaming, this offering is inspired by the heartfelt desire from the community to come together again and enliven our imaginations anew.

The program is open for students 3-5 years old, based on potty training and school readiness. Class will begin the week of September 3, 2024 and end May 30, 2025.

We will start in the Fall with a 3-day class, T-Th. If there is a need for an additional day, we are open to adding Mondays for an additional fee. At this time, due to small class size, we do not have a half day option, although you are welcome to pick up your child after lunch any of the days as long as the teachers know what to expect.

Please print and fill out the application, include a check made out to the Santa Fe Waldorf School for $50 and mail it to:

EC at SFWS

26 Puesta del Sol

Santa Fe, NM 87508

A deposit of $600 plus $490 in materials fees will be due with a signed contract.  Plus any tuition payments to that date (see application for details).

* Deposits and fees will be fully refundable if we do not have the required enrollment to sustain this program.

The Teachers will receive your applications and then set a time to meet with you and your child. We will do our best to accommodate all who are interested and committed to the developmental wisdom of a Waldorf inspired curriculum. Contracts will be sent out after the meet up.

We are always happy to engage in conversation around your child. Please send any questions to apine@santafewaldorf.org.

Sun Mountain Community School

The Sun Mountain Community School (SMCS) is a community of families and educators dedicated to cultivating the intellectual, social, emotional, physical and consciousness capacities of the developing human being. Our mission is to educate the whole child, using an age-appropriate approach to content and skills based on principles of Waldorf Education and the work of Rudolf Steiner. Our students engage in rigorous academics, develop connections to the natural world and moral discernment, and achieve an appreciation of themselves and others.

Our community is embarking on a brand new, public Waldorf-inspired education adventure! Every successful adventure needs a map to get started. The "map" below intends to remind everyone what we got approved for and some of the important benchmarks in the coming year. Knowing this, community members can get involved accordingly and promote this educational opportunity to their friends, neighbors, and co-workers in a knowledgeable way.

The Grand Plan:

Now - August 2025 - Implementation Year

2025-2026 - Open K-4th grade.

2026-2027 - Open K-6th grade.

2027-2028 - Open K-8th grade.

Implementation Year Calendar:

Fall :

  • School Board begins their trainings & head hunts for our Head of School

  • We secure Implementation year funding

  • We implement an outreach plan to educate the community about Waldorf-inspired education:

  • create a website,

  • form partnerships with other organizations/non-profits,

  • host educational booths throughout town,

  • host events and festivals on campus.

  • Equity Council is formed from community members. This group works to improve the experiences of students with disabilities, Native American students, students who are English learners, and economically disadvantaged students, and to create culturally and linguistically responsive educational environments.

Winter :

  • The Head of School is hired.

  • Recruitment begins, families can begin applying for our lottery.

  • January: Head of School begins phase one hiring (lead teachers)

  • February: we pull our lottery for K-4th grade

Spring :

  • Campus readiness is finalized (fencing, classroom space distribution, playground)

  • Phase two hiring begins (staff)

  • Recruitment continues until all seats are filled.

Summer :

  • Campus beautification.

  • Teachers undergo required training.

  • August : Our first day of school!

Community is in our name and our mission so we welcome and need your involvement! Please reach out to zwilcox@santafewaldorf.org with any questions, especially if you have interest in or have ideas about the Equity Council or community outreach. We look forward to building a diverse and beautiful team.
