"Mrs. America" tells the story of the movement to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA), and the unexpected backlash led by a conservative woman named Phyllis Schlafly, aka "the sweetheart of the silent majority." Through the eyes of the women of the era -- both Schlafly and second-wave feminists Gloria Steinem, Betty Friedan, Shirley Chisholm, Bella Abzug and Jill Ruckelshaus -- the series explores how one of the toughest battlegrounds in the culture wars of the '70s helped give rise to the Moral Majority and forever shifted the political landscape.

This CAST! Led by Cate Blanchett truly an eventful story that showed a forgotten time of how people felt and thought. Loved how characters were shown in each episode and that helped to paint a full picture. Accents were great with moments of humor and frankness enjoyed this.

I loved every moment of this show! Cate Blanchett (Greatest of All Time) gives a Fantastic performance playing Phyllis Schlafly. Rose Byrne is magnificient as the wonderful Gloria Steinem. Fabulous supporting cast. I highly recommend this series.

This offers a complex narrative of the ERA which is often overlooked precisely because of the reasons pointed out by the show. The series is also attractive visually with a real sense of progression of time and feelings expressed through the cinematography.

Eerily prescient; if this had come out just 2 years later it likely would have been too close to home for at least half of the country to even consider watching as entertainment. The acting is all great and the subject matter critical in understanding how religion and politics have warped American government and culture. Ultimately, like most streaming shows, this feels like it might have worked more effectively as a 2 hour movie, versus a nearly 9 hour mini-series. The focus gets lost easily from episode-to-episode, with some creative elements feeling either out-of-place or mis-used (one episode involving a hangover went way too over-to-top in both style and execution). Worth watching for anyone curious about these characters and this moment in time; likely too uncomfortable or intense a subject for anyone else.
