Raiders announce coaching staff changes

HENDERSON, Nev.– The Raiders have named Scott Turner as Interim Offensive Coordinator, Joe Philbin as Interim Offensive Line Coach, and have added Norv Turner to the coaching staff as a Senior Advisor, the club announced Tuesday.

Scott Turner was previously the Pass Game Coordinator with the Raiders, coming to the Silver and Black in 2023 following three years as the offensive coordinator for the Washington Commanders. Turner, who played quarterback at UNLV before beginning his coaching career, has also had NFL stints with the Carolina Panthers (2011-12, 2018-19), Cleveland Browns (2013), and Minnesota Vikings (2014-16).

Philbin joined the Raiders this season as a Senior Offensive Assistant, and has nearly four decades of coaching experience, including four years as the Head Coach of the Miami Dolphins (2012-15). Philbin has coached the offensive line throughout his career, most recently with the Dallas Cowboys for three seasons (2020-22). A native of Springfield, Mass., Philbin coached with the Green Bay Packers from 2003-11, serving as offensive coordinator from 2007-11. He returned to Green Bay in 2018 as offensive coordinator and finished that season as the Packers Interim Head Coach.

Norv Turner returns for his second stint with the Raiders, having served as the Head Coach of the Silver and Black from 2004-05. One of the most respected minds in football, Turner began his coaching career in 1975 and has served 15 years as an NFL Head Coach with three different teams. He was the offensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys from 1991-93, helping that franchise win two Super Bowl championships, and went to be the Head Coach with Washington (1994-2000) and the San Diego Chargers (2007-12) in addition to his two years in Oakland. In recent years he has been the offensive coordinator with the Cleveland Browns (2013), Minnesota Vikings (2014-16), and Carolina Panthers (2018-19).
