Top Camp and Hodgson Vale | Queensland Places

Top Camp and Hodgson Vale are adjoining rural/residential suburbs. Originally in Cambooya Shire, they are immediately south of Kearneys Spring, a suburb five km south of central Toowoomba. Since 2008 they have been included in Lockyer Valley Regional Council.

Both suburbs were formally named in 1999. The origin of Top Camp's name is apparently unrecorded, and Hodgson Vale was presumably named after Sir Arthur Hodgson, proprietor of the Eton Vale pastoral run (1848) and MLA for Warrego (1868-69). When only rural localities, Hodgson Vale and Top Camp had State primary schools (1906-60 and 1947-60 respectively).

Hodgson Vale has a neighbourhood park with a community sports club and a retail convenience centre. This part of Hodgson Vale is rural/residential, in common with most of Top Camp. The census population of these areas has been:
