Get to Know: the Design and Symbolism 

The Gomdoori were designed by Lee Yun Soo. The design of the mascot pair was based on the Asian black bear and the name Gomdoori comes from the Korean word for “teddy bear”. Bears are commonly associated with wisdom and courage, and the pair is seen with their legs tied together, symbolising the ability to overcome adversity through co-operation and to encourage people to work peacefully and harmoniously together.
