Virtualisation, Containerisation & Orchestration
Virtualisation, containerisation and orchestration on a bare-metal dedicated server
There are many advantages to virtualisation and containerisation, when it comes to deploying projects and modernising applications. These advantages include optimising hardware and software investments, and long-term flexibility. Our bare-metal servers offer flexibility and efficiency with raw resources, leaving you to choose your virtualisation and containerisation applications.
Maintain control of your technical platform
To virtualise your infrastructure, get dedicated servers that are compatible with the most popular software on the market: Linux KVM, Microsoft Hyper-V, Citrix XenServer, VMware ESXi and Proxmox VE. In terms of containerisation and orchestration, deploy your own Kubernetes or Apache Mesos infrastructure, and fully control your IT system.
Our servers are designed to be scalable, with many configuration options at no extra cost. They meet all requirements, and are fully secure.
A wide range of servers
With our dedicated server ranges, you can create a virtualised infrastructure that fits your needs as closely as possible. Choose the computing power and volume of RAM you need, and distribute it however you want.
Private network included
Your dedicated server comes with an isolated, redundant private network*. You get up to 50Gbit/s guaranteed* high-speed bandwidth, with a minimum of two network cards — one for the public network, and one for the private network.
*Only on Scale and High Grade servers.
A global infrastructure
Your infrastructure’s location is important for your performance and business. This is why you can choose the location of your servers from 43 datacentres spread across the globe. If required, you can duplicate or extend your infrastructure to reach specific geographical zones.
OVHcloud solutions
Our comprehensive catalogue of bare metal and cloud solutions also includes all of the functional building blocks that are essential for your infrastructures. Whether you need datastores, Public Cloud instances, dedicated servers or private cloud solutions, OVHcloud will have the right option for you.
Description
With dedicated servers, you can harness the advantages of virtualisation and get access to all of the server’s resources. You can freely migrate your websites, CRM, ERP, databases and any other elements to your virtual machines, which you can deploy to suit your needs. Along with solid security guarantees, the unrivalled performance delivered by dedicated servers can match even the most resource-intensive projects. You can also add to your virtualisation architecture by attaching a distributed storage solution to it.
This way, you get all the advantages of the cloud — performance, resilience, and cost control.

What is server virtualisation?
Server virtualisation involves creating one or more virtual machines from a server or physical infrastructure using a software layer. Virtualisation offers a multitude of uses. With a physical server, you can deploy as many virtual servers as you need. The virtual servers share the resources of the physical server, which are distributed using management software. You can then optimise the use of a server’s resources by allocating them as needed, to avoid provisioning additional servers. A server virtualisation infrastructure has many other uses, too — for example, you can use it to create your own cloud. By using a hypervisor to manage the infrastructure, you get more flexibility — and you can easily add more physical or virtual servers and resources to your public, hybrid or private cloud.
