Features of a Rise server
Hardware
Backup space
Each dedicated server has a free 500 GB storage space, independent from the server, to store your data.
Additional backup storage
The included external backup space can be extended to 1, 5 or 10 TB to accommodate larger volumes.
Disk customisation
When you order your dedicated server, you can customise its storage capacity with a wide range of disks.
Intel Software Guard Extensions (SGX)
Intel Software Guard Extensions (SGX) is available with Intel Xeon E processors. This technology delivers advanced hardware and RAM security encryption features, in order to isolate parts of code and data that are specific to each application. You can enable the feature via the OVHcloud Control Panel.
AMD Secure Encrypted Virtualisation (SEV)
Integrated with AMD EPYC processors, SEV helps protect your data privacy and integrity by encrypting each virtual machine with one of the 509 unique encryption keys known only to the processor. SEV requires activation in the guest OS and hypervisor.
AMD Secure Memory Encryption (SME)
Integrated with AMD EPYC processors, EMS uses a single key to encrypt system memory. This key is generated by the AMD Secure Processor at startup. EMS must be enabled in the system BIOS or operating system. When enabled in the BIOS, memory encryption is transparent, and can be run with any operating system.

Configure your database server by deploying the Microsoft SQL Server database management system.
Network
Unlimited traffic
Incoming and outgoing traffic is unlimited and free (excluding our datacentres located in the Asia-Pacific region).
1 Gbps public bandwidth guaranteed
Your server has a default minimum bandwidth. You can also increase your bandwidth.
Additional public bandwidth up to 2 Gbps
Our dedicated servers have a default public bandwidth. Depending on your project’s resource requirements, you can choose an additional guaranteed bandwidth option. This ensures constant throughput for your incoming and outgoing traffic.
vRack private network – 1 Gbps – guaranteed and unlimited(2)
Our Rise servers include our vRack private network, so you can create a cluster or integrate your server into an existing infrastructure. This network is isolated from the internet, and is offered at no additional cost.
Up to 2 Gbps additional private bandwidth
Our dedicated servers come with access to our private physical network, the vRack. By selecting an additional bandwidth option, you increase the data transfer rate between your servers across all our datacentres. The vRack private network is compatible with other OVHcloud solutions, such as dedicated servers, Private Cloud and Public Cloud.
OVHcloud Link Aggregation
This feature maximises the availability of your dedicated servers. You can enable it on the OVHcloud Control Panel to group your public and private network links. This ensures service continuity, and a very high-bandwidth private network for your most critical applications and distributed systems.
Load Balancer
The OVHcloud Load Balancer distributes the traffic load on the IP addresses for your services hosted in our datacentres. You will need to use this option if you want to distribute your traffic across several servers (e.g. for an e-commerce website). You can also use it to detect unavailable servers, and redirect traffic to one or more functioning servers.
Anti-DDoS protection
To guarantee maximum security for your infrastructures, our anti-DDoS system is included with all OVHcloud dedicated servers.
Game DDoS Protection
Our anti-DDoS service is available on Game servers from the Eco range. This DDoS protection, specially designed for video games and e-sports, is essential for game hosting platforms to counter the industry’s frequent and massive DDoS attacks.
OVHcloud Connect
With OVHcloud Connect, you can link your network to your infrastructure in our datacentres. This high-speed private link is completely isolated from the public network, and perfectly secure.
IP
IPv4 and IPv6 addresses
Each server has a public IPv4 address and an IPv6 address range.
Additional IP
Additional IPv4 addresses can be transferred between OVHcloud servers, providing failover capabilities. These IP addresses can also be geolocated in 14 countries.
IPMI over IP
The Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) console can be accessed via the OVHcloud Control Panel or API, and provides you with a direct connection to your dedicated server. Even if your server becomes unavailable, you can keep control of your machines through its public IP address.
Bring Your Own IP
With the IP address bringing service (BYOIP) provided by OVHcloud, you can bring your own public IPv4 address ranges and use them as additional IP blocks.
It is a simple way to ensure that your company’s public connectivity is maintained. This is especially the case when you migrate some or all of your services to the cloud.
Services
Network Security Dashboard
From your Control Panel, you can directly access an interface that provides you with a clear view of your server’s traffic. You can also view the anti-DDoS included with your solution.

Your questions answered
Is my bandwidth usage unlimited?
At OVHcloud, unlimited and unmetered traffic is enabled by default, with the exception of solutions and services hosted our Asia-Pacific datacentres.
What is a dedicated server?
A dedicated server, or computing server, is a machine that allocates all of its hardware resources to the user. Unlike a virtual server, which allocates a portion of the resources to virtualisation technology, a dedicated server offers you all of its RAM, storage, and computing power. This technology can be especially applied to cloud computing. This type of solution emphasises the physical availability of the server’s hardware resources, in contrast to services based on virtual instances.
Which dedicated server should I choose?
Our dedicated server configurations are specially adapted to suit a wide range of professional uses. Depending on your needs, you can opt for more RAM, more storage space, or a faster processor.
OVHcloud dedicated servers also stand out because of their bandwidth capacity and associated services. You can also use our anti-DDoS solution that is adapted for gaming – and our private network (vRack) can be used to connect your dedicated server to your infrastructure, or even hardware RAID. Choose a configuration that best suits your needs.
What should a dedicated server be used for?
There are many uses for a dedicated server: big data, machine learning, website and web application hosting, storage and backup, infrastructure virtualisation, server clusters, business applications (CRM, ERP), and online game hosting. This is why we offer several different dedicated server ranges, each of which are designed for a specific set of needs. Our sales and support teams will help you with your project, and can offer expert advice on which server to choose.
Why is anti-DDoS protection included by default?
At OVHcloud, anti-DDoS protection is a mandatory feature with all our solutions. It guarantees optimal security for your servers and infrastructures, for a variety of reasons:
- a distributed denial-of-service attack on your machine will affect your business, which may cause a service interruption and even financial loss;
- When your access is saturated, it can have an impact on the common network, and affect other customers as a result.
How do I choose my datacentre?
OVHcloud Bare Metal servers are available in our network of datacentres across the globe. To host services; we recommend choosing a datacentre that is geographically close to both your customers and main users.
By choosing a location for storing and processing data, you can ensure compliance with local laws and regulations.
When can I order the add-on options offered?
The options are available at the server configuration step. You can also order and enable options directly via the OVHcloud Control Panel, after your service has been delivered.
What do the setup fees include?
The setup fees correspond to the costs of assembling and connecting your server in our datacentres. These up-front fees are only billed once, when the service is set up. This means they are not linked to your commitment period.
The setup fees for your dedicated server are included for any commitment periods of 12 months or longer.
What are the advantages of the vRack private network?
The vRack is a private network that is isolated from the internet. This means you can create your own cluster, or connect your server to an existing infrastructure – and you can do all of this at no extra cost.
Through the vRack private network, you can secure the exchanges between your web server and your database. To do this, you must disable the public IP address of the dedicated server you want to protect.
