Modern, safe and comfortable travel is a top priority for ÖBB: In order to make your travel experience even more pleasant in the future, ÖBB has ordered new long-distance trains. A total of 21 next-generation trains are scheduled to be in service by 2023. The 13 Nightjets and eight Railjets will be produced by Siemens from April 2019 onwards.
Cutting edge design & comfort
The design process had a clear focus on optimising the travel experience: In addition to greater privacy and comfort, our passengers can also look forward to even more personalised features.
Comfortable travel during the day
The nine-part Railjets for daytime transport are equipped with more than 500 seats each. In addition to open carriages, passengers also have the option of choosing individual compartments. Families and business travellers alike benefit from additional privacy. Furthermore, double seats can easily be converted into a kind of sofa, while the newly developed, particularly comfortable and adjustable seats with footrests in 1st and 2nd class make travelling even more pleasant. In addition, each seat is equipped with its own electrical outlet with USB charging capability.
More privacy on night trains
The seven-part next-generation Nightjets consist of two seating cars, as well as three couchette and two sleeper cars. Here, too, cutting-edge design is combined with even more comfort. Mini suites in the couchette cars offer even more privacy for those travelling alone. In the standard and deluxe sleeping compartments, travelling is even more comfortable with your own shower and toilet. Family compartments will, of course, continue to be available. A new on-board feature is the free WiFi, which was previously limited to long-distance Railjets and is now also available to passengers on the new generation of night trains.
