KSLU to begin broadcasting on Monday Radio Station KSLU, an educational FM station licensed to serve Southeastern Louisiana University, will begin programing on a regularly scheduled basis Monday, Nov. 11, at 5 p.m. KSLU will be broadcasting at 90.9 Mhs. from the radio studios located in the Humanities Building on the Southeastern campus. The non-commercial station will broadcast programs from 5 p.m. until midnight Monday thru Friday. KSLU's tentative program schedule calls for nightly feature programs, special music sessions, and news segments focusing on campus, local, state and national news. Four students have been named to station managerial posts, and student volunteers will serve as "disc jockeys" on KSLU. Station manager is Chuck Spratt of New Orleans. Jannelle Watkins of Ponchatoula is news director. Bob Bush of Bogalusa will serve as program director. John Miles of Hammond was named to the music director's post. Faculty advisors to KSLU are Mrs. Pat Short of the Department of Speech and Drama at Southeastern and Robert Priez of the music faculty who is the station's technician. KSLU, Southeastern's first radio station, will operate under licensing from the Federal Communications Commission. The university holds the license for the educational station. The Department of Speech and Drama, headed by Dr. Luther Wade, will supervise the station's operation.
