Buffalo Bisons family mourns the passing of 'The Butcher' - Donald Palmer
The entire Buffalo Bisons family is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Donald 'The Butcher' Palmer.
'The Butcher' was a Bisons' fixture in the mid-1980s at War Memorial Stadium and helped the organization open up Coca-Cola Field to fans during the 1988 season. Rushing out of the dugout to collect bats and baseballs, 'The Butcher' made foul balls just as fun and entertaining for fans as those the team hit in play. He was beloved by the entire Bisons organization as well as by fans who attended Bisons games.
"The Butcher was more than just a bat boy, rather a major part of the overall experience that Bisons fans had when they attended games at War Memorial Stadium. The commitment and passion that he brought to every game made him as beloved as anyone else in a Bisons' uniform. He and his contributions to the early success of Bisons baseball will forever be missed," said Jonathan A. Dandes, President of Rich Baseball Operations.
"The Butcher is and will forever be a part of the Buffalo Bisons history. Not only did he reach so many of us in the Bisons organization, but so many former managers and players recall to us how much he meant to the game here in Buffalo. All of us will miss him deeply," said Mike Buczkowski, Vice President/General Manager of the Buffalo Bisons.
The Buffalo Bisons organization sends its condolences to the entire Palmer family.
