Seymour Monro Lord-Lieutenant of MorayThe Lord-Lieutenant is His Majesty The King’s Representative in Moray. Currently he is Major General The Hon Seymour Monro CBE, LVO. He is assisted in his role by the Vice Lord-Lieutenant, 12 Deputy Lieutenants and the Clerk. Together they are known as ‘The Lieutenancy’.

The Lieutenancy aims to help create a good atmosphere and a spirit of cooperation across the County of Moray. It seeks to encourage charities and voluntary groups, to promote businesses, and to support social well-being in the area. It maintains a close relationship with the Armed Forces, the Moray Council, the NHS and the Police.

As a non-political body, it is an impartial force for good. An example of this has been its leadership of The Moray Emergency Relief Fund which it runs together with the Lieutenancy of Banffshire, which is also part of the Moray Council area.

The Lieutenancy is fully involved in Royal Visits, Honours and Awards, and in celebrating special birthdays and wedding anniversaries. It plays a leading role in national ceremonies such as Remembrance Day.

This website also describes something of the history and area of the Moray Lieutenancy and what it has been doing, and what events are in the calendar ahead.
