Venice Immersive is the Extended Reality section of the 79^th Venice International Film Festival of La Biennale di Venezia (August 31^st  - September 10^th 2022).

Venice Immersive, the new name of the Venice VR Expanded section, intends to acknowledge the growth of immersive media beyond the technologies of Virtual Reality and to include all means of creative expression in XR – Extended Reality: 360° videos and XR works, including installations, live performances and virtual worlds.

The Venice Immersive section of the 79^th Venice International Film Festival, following the success of its most recent online editions, will be held in person again this year, on the Venice Immersive Island (Isola del Lazzaretto Vecchio), located in front of Riva di Corinto.

The 2022 Venice Immersive selection is composed of a total of forty-four projects (seven 360° videos, twenty Standalone projects, eleven Installations, five VR worlds on VRChat, one Special Screening Event) from nineteen Countries, divided as follows:

• 30 projects in Competition
• 10 projects in the Best Of Immersive section
• 3 projects in the Biennale College Cinema VR section
• 1 Special Screening Event Out of Competition

In addition to the above, a selection of 30 virtual worlds with 2 Special Events will be presented in the Worlds Gallery accessible through curated world- hop tours on the Venice Immersive Island through the Venice Immersive 2022 World on VRChat.

The 2022 Venice Immersive selection is accessible to all 79^th Venice International Film Festival accreditation pass holders on the Venice Immersive Island (Isola del Lazzaretto Vecchio).

There will also be a special Venice Immersive Pass  available for interested visitors who are not accredited to the Festival.

The viewing of the projects of the Venice Immersive official selection will be available upon reservation only, every day from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm.

A free waterbus shuttle service will connect Riva di Corinto on the Lido to the Venice Immersive Island, until the end of the last night event.

For disabled pass holders, with disability requiring the use of a wheelchair, the access to the Venice Immersive Island and to the titles of the Venice Immersive section, is possible by writing to biglietteria.cinema@labiennale.org indicating: the accreditation code, the details of the titles to book and any additional requirement. The request must be made at least 48 hours in advance.

All accreditation pass holders can access the Venice Immersive selection on the Venice Immersive Island through online reservation on the 79^th Venice International Film Festival pass holders Vivaticket booking platform.

Press previews will be on 30^th August.

From 28th August at 7:00 am Press and Industry Accredited viewers can book screenings taking place from 31st August.
All other accredited viewers can book screenings taking place from 1st September.

Guide to reservations for pass holders

Visitors who are not accredited to the 79^th Venice International Film Festival may request a special Venice Immersive pass that will give access to the Venice Immersive selection on the Venice Immersive Island for screenings starting from 1^st Sept.

The Venice Immersive Pass is reserved to people over 18 years of age and is available in two formats:

5-DAY Venice Immersive Pass (€ 50): valid for 5 days

FULL Venice Immersive Pass (€ 80): valid from September 1^st to 10^th

Reservation of each viewing is mandatory for both Accreditation and Venice Immersive Pass holders. It will be possible to reserve a slot for the viewing of each Venice Immersive project or event (online on the Vivaticket booking platform for Venice Immersive Pass holders).

After two editions of Venice VR Expanded held online, the Venice International Film Festivalcontinues to celebrate the virtual worlds community. This year on Venice Immersive Island (Lazaretto Vecchio) 10 VR stations are dedicated to the viewing of virtual worlds.The Venice Immersive official selection features the Worlds Gallery, a collection of 30 virtual worlds with two Special Events, accessible through guided world-hops tours.

These two special events can be accessed in the following ways:
- On the Venice Immersive Island (Isola Lazzaretto Vecchio): accredited pass holders and Venice Immersive Pass Holders will be able to book 30 minutes slots to experience a sample of the events in Virtual Reality.
- On the Venice Immersive Island (Isola Lazzaretto Vecchio): a stream from these events will be broadcast in the garden area.

Visitors who cannot attend the Venice Immersive section of the 79^th Venice International Film Festival in person, can enjoy a virtual version of the Venice Immersive Island on the Venice Immersive World 2022 on VRChat.

Following the success of the 2021 edition, the Venice Immersive 2022 World on VRChat, designed with technical support of VRrOOm, features the Worlds Gallery, a selection of 30 virtual worlds and hosts 2 special events.

Venice Immersive World 2022 on VRChat includes:

· The Piazza as the main gathering area to socialise with people from all over the world
