Thu, 19 May 2022 10:21:50 +0000https://www.kerouac.com/?p=14491#comment-19538I agree with J Day in some ways, Jack and the beat icons have the most direct and human relationship with the museum whilst still being fantastical or larger than life, more elegant somehow than cosmic/mathematical metaphorical or symbolic references towards theoretical meaning behind, or interpretation of the beat movement. They bring a hint of Americana to the facade like a mount rushmore or lady liberty. They also over power the Buon Gusto element of the facade, which some of the more unified designs don’t seem to achieve.

Of all these new ones, only the Spiral design was of interest. But having a major figure of the Beats featured on the new Beat Museum wall makes most sense.

I also like the Jack Kerouac’s typewriter, again for its simplicity. The others are just way too busy and deflects the design of the building. Also what’s wrong in having a new design featuring Jack Kerouac?

Other than Eye of Consciousness and Murmurations, not very impressed with the others. It would be nice to see some incorporated visualization of Lowell red brick.
