Meet Archie Yates, the 10-year-old from Edenbridge who stars in Jojo Rabbit and has bagged the lead role in a Home Alone reboot.

In the former, Archie plays Yorki - the innocent best friend of Johannes "Jojo Rabbit" Betzler - starring alongside Scarlett Johansson and Rebel Wilson.

The comedy-drama, directed by Taika Waititi, takes a satirical look at Nazi Germany and is tipped for an Oscar.

Both Yorki and Jojo are members of Hitler Youth when Jojo finds out his mum is hiding a Jewish girl in the attic.

Archie was "shocked and amazed" when he was cast for the film.

He said: "Yorki is a really sweet, innocent young boy who has no idea why everyone is fighting but is still really supportive of Jojo."

Following his appearance in Jojo Rabbit, Archie, who goes to Edenbridge Primary School, has now been cast as the star of Disney's Home Alone reboot, with filming due to begin at the end of the month.

Archie, who is an only child, said: "I'm now owned by Mickey Mouse.

"I love Home Alone, I've watched it so many times and I'm really excited about it."

He will play the lead character in the film, Max, starring alongside Deadpool 2 actor Rob Delaney.

Accompanied by his mum Julie, Archie spent three weeks on the Jojo Rabbit set in Prague in July 2018.

He is now close friends with Roman Griffin Davis, who plays Jojo, Thomasin McKenzie, who plays Elsa and the clone twins.

He said: "They're so sweet. I really got on well with them - we had lots of fun.

"We actually got quite a lot of spare time so we did lots of cool stuff like sight-seeing and eating delicious food."

Since he began acting classes aged four, Archie has set his heart on becoming a movie legend.

Stagecoach theatre club in Oxted was Archie's first introduction to acting, before he moved to Showtime performing arts in Sevenoaks, where he still goes now.

He said: "When I was three, I wanted to be a magician but now, my career is definitely going to be acting."

Being in front of the camera doesn't worry Archie, but he admits he can get a little nervous on stage.

"There's no need to get nervous when you're filming because if something goes wrong, you can just do it again. But on stage, you have to get it right first time," he said.

Archie's family and school friends were invited to watch the film at a private showing at Everyman cinema in Oxted on Sunday.

His mum said: "It has been very emotional seeing him on the screen, especially at this screening because we had all our family and friends here.

The 46-year-old who works in insurance added: "Me and his dad Anthony are so proud of him. He is such a star and takes everything in his stride."

Archie added: "My mum is really supportive and just amazing.

"The private screening was very fun and emotional. Everyone was so supportive about the film and it was really nice to be getting so much attention.

"I sometimes cringe watching myself though."

He may love acting, but Archie is not such a fan of school.

"School is the slaveland of children," he said. "My teachers are lovely but I think they need more variety with lessons.

"It's mostly just English, maths and science but I think there needs to be more of an equal balance with the other subjects like drama and art."

When he's not learning his lines, Archie loves playing video games and building stuff with Lego.

He is a big fan of comedy and Marvel films, with Robert Downey Jr being one of his favourite actors.

Jojo Rabbit is out now is all mainstream cinemas.
