Welcome to the
The City of Jamestown is centrally located between Bismarck (North Dakota State Capital) and Fargo (North Dakota’s Largest City) at the intersection of Interstate 94 and US Highway 281. Jamestown is located in the valley where the James and Pipestem rivers meet. This creates a wide variety of recreational activities for all ages from the summer to the winter. There are activities for the whole family. Including, but not limited to, fishing, hunting, golfing, camping, sledding and much more.
Jamestown is often called the “Buffalo City”, as it is the home of the World’s Largest Buffalo and the National Buffalo Museum. These can be seen at the Frontier Village, where you can step back into the old west. If you are a sports fan, Jamestown has the North Dakota Sports Hall of Fame in our local civic center, which hosts many events throughout the year. The city of Jamestown is the home of the Jamestown High School Blue Jays and the University of Jamestown Jimmies. Jamestown has many parks and parkettes to visit and take in the beautiful scenery, as well as Jamestown and Pipestem Dam’s.
Whether you are coming for the day or becoming a part of the community, Jamestown community members extend friendly hospitality to all. If you are passing through for the day to tour the Frontier Village and view our live herd of buffalo, visit our historical sites, or joining us for a tournament at one of our sporting complexes, we are sure you will enjoy your visit. Jamestown, a year-round vacation destination, offers a variety of entertainment, excellent motel accommodations, and fine dining to make your visit an unforgettable experience!
We welcome you to the “Buffalo City”. We encourage you to stop and take a look around, possibly stay awhile or just visit.
