Hull KR are considering a move for former Hull FC talent Connor Wynne. Rugby League Live understands the Robins are looking at the 23-year-old as a potential transfer target for 2026.

Wynne, a utility outside back, came through the ranks on the other side of the city and was once seen as one of the Black and Whites' best up-and-coming talents, making his debut as a teenager. He went on to make 36 appearances for the club before his departure at the end of the 2023 season.

Last year, Wynne had an excellent season in the Championship with Featherstone Rovers. He made 27 appearances for the West Yorkshire club, scoring 21 tries. His performances saw him named fans' player of the year.

Wynne signed a 12-month contract extension with the club last month but Rovers are considering a move to bring him back to the city, and Super League, in 2026. The new December 1st deadline means Rovers are free to negotiate terms with him immediately.

As part of their recruitment strategy, Rovers are mindful of the squad's age profile and signing Wynne would help maintain the desired balance of senior players alongside younger talent who can be part of the roster in the long term.

Chief executive Paul Lakin revealed in a recent Q&A that the club were mindful of potential salary cap pressures in future years and it's to be expected that Rovers' recruitment heading into 2026 will reflect that, with transfer activity set to be of a lower-profile to previous years. The Robins have some senior players off-contract, such as Sauaso Sue and Dean Hadley, and a significant part of their focus will be on retaining them for future years.

In October, Wynne outlined his desire to earn a return to Super League.

"I'm ready to take my chance again if it comes," he told Rugby League Live. "The earlier the better, but I've just got to keep working hard, keep knuckling down, and show people what I'm capable of. Hopefully, my rugby on the pitch will do the talking, but I know I have to keep producing the goods for Fev."

While Rovers haven't pulled the trigger yet, Wynne is certainly on their radar as it stands.
