A Creeslough man charged with a serious assault in Letterkenny has been sent forward for trial.
Niall Toye appeared at Letterkenny District Court in connection with an assault on Ryan McCullagh on April 17, 2022.
Toye, a 20-year-old of Grogagh, Creeslough, is charged with assaulting Ryan McCullagh and causing him harm at Port Road, Letterkenny.
The charge is contrary to section 3 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, 1997.
A Garda gave evidence of serving a book of evidence on Toye.
Sergeant Maurice Doyle told the court that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has consented for the accused to be sent forward for trial to the next sitting of Letterkenny Circuit Court, which commences in February, 2025.
Solicitor Ms Donna Ponsonby represented Toye in court.
Judge Éiteáin Cunningham made an order returning Toye for trial and administered the alibi warning. A section 56 order, relating to videos of interviews, was also made.
Legal aid was granted and one legal counsel assigned.
