As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
The submission has not been previously published and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere; nor will it be later submitted for publication elsewhere while E-JC is still considering it.
The submission is prepared according to the Author Guidelines, is in PDF format, and includes an abstract.
The submission is written in the authors' own words with due credit given to all techniques and results taken from other sources.
The authors agree to do the final typesetting of their article using the journal's LaTeX style file.
The submitting author warrants that all the authors of the paper agree to it being submitted to the Electronic Journal of Combinatorics in this form.
Author Guidelines
General
The Electronic Journal of Combinatorics (E-JC) is a fully-refereed electronic journal with very high standards, publishing papers of substantial content and interest in all branches of discrete mathematics, including combinatorics, graph theory, and algorithms for combinatorial problems. High quality surveys (either static or dynamic) in discrete mathematics are also considered for publication. Submitted manuscripts must be original and self-contained. There is no page limit, so include all relevant details. The writing must be in English and be unambiguous and grammatically correct. The journal does not display logos, emblems or flags on published papers.
Dynamic Surveys are survey articles that are periodically revised by the authors to keep them up-to-date. The author list can be expanded for future editions if desired.
The Abstract
Submissions must include an abstract. The abstract should consist of a succinct statement of background followed by a listing of the principal new results. The abstract should be informative, clear, and as complete as possible. Phrases like "we investigate ..." or "we study ..." should be kept to a minimum in favor of "we prove that ..." or "we show that ...". Do not include equation numbers, unexpanded citations (such as "[23]"), or any other references to things in the paper that are not defined in the abstract. The abstract will be distributed without the rest of the paper so it must be entirely self-contained.
Submission Information
All new submissions must use the web-based system.
When submitting a manuscript, you should enter the name, affiliation and email address of each author. Be sure to include accents directly without using LaTeX commands; so type "Université de Montréal" instead of "Universit\'e de Montr\'eal". Copy and paste these accents if your keyboard is not equipped to type them directly. Names will appear on the table of contents exactly as you enter them, so please put them in the correct order.
You will be prompted to enter an html version of your abstract, in addition to the abstract contained in the main LaTex file. In the html abstract, LaTeX math commands are acceptable, but do not include user-defined LaTeX macros or non-math LaTeX formatting commands, such as \emph{...} or \textbf{...}. Instead, use the html formatting buttons provided.
The article itself should be submitted as a PDF file. You will also have the chance to upload separate appendices, but don't upload any source files at this stage.
Journal Policies
Read the journal's policies, especially the section on the editorial process.
Final Version
Manuscripts accepted for publication must be prepared using the E-JC LaTeX style file e-jc.sty in the same manner as ejc-sample.tex to produce output similar to ejc-sample.pdf. In particular, LaTex should run on your paper without reporting errors such as overfull hboxes. Do not alter e-jc.sty as we will use our own copy.
Upload a PDF of your paper, and upload /all/ source files as "supplementary files". Include all of your LaTex (including the bibliography) in a single file rather than splitting it between files.
If your LaTex file is self-contained, then simply upload it as a supplementary file.
If your LaTex file imports image files, create a zip or tar file that includes the LaTex file and all of the files it imports, then upload the zip/tar file as a single supplementary file. Do not upload images as individual supplementary files, since they will be renamed by the system and we won't know what they are. The preferred format for image files is PDF, but EPS format is also acceptable.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter problems with the submission process, please contact the managing editor André Kündgen.
Papers
The initial submission must be in PDF format.
