Who WE Are – Erik Jones
On any given day, Erik Jones can be seen in the halls of William Penn High School giving students academic advice, bringing a smile to their faces, or demanding respectful behavior. Jones, who grew up in Rosegate, which is along the Route 9 corridor relates to students in a special way. Having graduated from William Penn, Jones is proud to be an assistant principal at his alma mater. During his days at Penn, Jones helped lead the Colonials to the 1987 State Championship. As 1988’s First Team All-State Quarterback, he represented Penn in the Blue Gold All-Star football game and received a full scholarship to Delaware State University. After graduating from DSU, Jones earned a Master’s degree from Wilmington University, and in 2016 was inducted into William Penn’s Hall of Fame. Jones is inspired by Martin Luther King Jr.’s quote, “If I cannot do great things, I can do small things in a great way.” Erik Jones does great things, big and small, everyday as a proud Colonial!
