Being a pastor is hard work and ministry can be tough at times. As a marketing manager for CT Pastors, I get to work with an incredible team of people who love the local church and want to support pastors through all the challenges they face. I love CT's commitment to serve pastors and pray that our work is an encouragement to continue the good and beautiful work of sharing Christ's love.
As I child, I grew up reading Christianity Today on the couch. As a high school student, I dreamed of becoming a journalist. As a college student, I ran the campus media organization and emailed CT articles to my friends. And today, I pitch ideas, report stories, and host CT's first podcast. Journalism persists as an embattled industry and with major layoffs routinely making the news, I'm regularly reminded of the specialness of this opportunity. A curious person by nature, I now ask questions for a living. An individual trying to understand faith's role in all dimensions of my intellectual life, I host a podcast which encourages me to marry these together. A hardcore extrovert, I find joy with my colleagues on a daily basis.
I create and direct all marketing material, products, and the publications—Church Law And Tax Report and Church Finance Today. This is my second term at Christianity Today, having worked here from 2006-2011. I came back to work at the ministry of CT because of its great people and great mission. Every day I come to work, I witness what I believe Jesus longs for in John 17:11—Christians from various backgrounds and denominations working closely together to create content that changes the people that change the world.
I am responsible for the overall design of each issue, from assigning artwork to creating layouts. Working with artists is one of my favorite things about this job, as hard as it can be to ensure that we get the highest quality photographs and illustrations into the magazine. I also enjoy collaborating with editors to create a finished piece that is both beautiful in word and image. As a designer, to have a purely creative role is both the most awesome and the most challenging. CT has given me the opportunity to explore new territory, push my limits, and have some fun.
