UPDATED:

Sean “Puffy” Combs and Jennifer Lopez were arrested and charged Monday with criminal possession of a weapon after a gun was allegedly found in their car as they left a nightclub where three people were shot and wounded.

Police were investigating eyewitness accounts alleging that Combs fired a gun in the club following a dispute near the bar area early Monday, said a police source. The gun found in the car was reported stolen from Georgia, according to another police source, who also insisted on anonymity.

Combs and Lopez were charged with criminal possession of stolen property, Police Commissioner Howard Safir said at a news conference at City Hall.

Combs, the millionaire rapper and record producer, and Lopez, actress and singer known for such films as “Out of Sight,” were stopped in a car with two other people around 2:30 a.m., about 10 minutes after the shooting at nearby Club NY, a trendy dance club, said Officer John Giammarino.

The two, who have been dating, were in the back seat of a Jeep with a driver and a bodyguard in the front, said the source who reported the eyewitness accounts. None of the four had a license for the gun found in the Jeep, Giammarino said. He didn’t know what type of gun it was.

Officers stopped the car because it was leaving the scene of the shooting, Giammarino said. The vehicle ran at least one red light before finally stopping, he said.

Jamal Barrow, 19, was arrested at the club, at 43rd Street and Eighth Avenue, and was charged with criminal possession of a 9 mm gun. Barrow is a little-known rapper who goes by the name Shine.
