We are now looking for Social Research Apprentices to join the team.
This is an exciting new opportunity to do a degree level apprenticeship in social research. BMG Research are looking for dynamic, creative and analytical thinkers to join our teams in Birmingham and London. The apprenticeship combines part-time study with the University of Kent with on-the-job learning. The apprenticeship will start in early September 2025
The Apprenticeship Structure and Career Development Pathway:
The apprenticeship is a 4 year programme which allows you to gain real experience working in social research while gaining a bespoke undergraduate degree in social research. The apprenticeship is level 6, and leads to a BSc honours degree with the University of Kent.
80% of your time will be spent in work, learning on-the-job with support from your line manager, team and the early careers team.20% will be spent studying through a mix of real time online classes, face-to-face classes and online distance learning.
Each year there will also be a 5-day residential course at the University of Kent in Canterbury.
You’ll gain experience across the different teams in BMG, including public policy, public perceptions, resident and customer experience, employee research, evaluation, business research and crime and justice.
Throughout the apprenticeship you’ll be expected to contribute to supporting the business to deliver high-impact results. You will be assessed on your performance and will receive regular feedback. By the end of the apprenticeship we expect you to have a good foundation for working in social research and, subject to performance, you will move into a Research Executive role within BMG
Key Responsibilities:
- As a social researcher you’ll work with clients across central and local government, regulators, charities and the third sector to design, implement and analyse research projects
- You’ll be involved in all stages of the research process and get the opportunity to work across wide variety of research topics like education, health, economics and social issues.
Person Specification:
- A minimum of 5 GCSEs (including Maths and English at grade 4 or above (or equivalent)
- A minimum of 96 UCAS points under the 2017 tariff point system (e.g. CCC at A level or equivalent qualification, not including General Studies), or expected to achieve by August 2024
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities accompanied by good numerical skills
- An interest in, and knowledge of society and current affairs
- Strong interpersonal and organisational skills
- A willingness to take on challenging tasks and learn rapidly
- A desire to pursue a career in social research in a fun and exciting setting
- Excellent eye for detail
- Effective and efficient time management
- A keen eye for detail – spotting and correcting errors
Salary and benefits:
- £26,000, per annum
