Jelena Subotić

Jelena Subotic is Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at Georgia State University in Atlanta. She is the author of Hijacked Justice: Dealing with the Past in the Balkans (Cornell University Press, 2009), which examined ways in which political elites in the Western Balkans used institutions of international justice for local political purposes in the aftermath of the Yugoslav wars. The book has been translated and published in Serbia in 2010 by the Belgrade Center for Human Rights. Jelena’s research on human rights, identity politics, Europeanization and the Balkans has been published in International Studies Quarterly, Journal of Peace Research, East European Politics and Societies, International Journal of Transitional Justice and other academic journals. She is a frequent commentator on the politics of the Balkans for CNN, BBC, and other international outlets.
