Puerta was signed from Bogotá FC in January 2023 and initially loaned to FC Nürnberg in Bundesliga 2. Puerta made ten appearances for the Werkself in the Bundesliga and the Europa League in 2023/24.

It was a remarkable comeback by the Werkself in the home game against FC Heidenheim. After conceding two early goals, the equaliser came just before half-time.
