Redshirt sophomore cornerback Azizi Hearn is no longer on the Arizona Wildcats’ roster, our Brandon Combs noted on Twitter.
Hearn logged 26 tackles and a pass breakup in 12 games last season. He started the final three games.
This was his most memorable play:
Just how you draw it up!

Colin Schooler picks it off and then fumbles, but Azizi Hearn picks it up and runs it for a defensive TD!

It is unclear why Hearn was removed from the roster, but he was a walk-on so it’s possible he is transferring in search of a scholarship. Hearn did not have any Division I offers coming out of Oceanside High School, per 247Sports.
Even with the loss of Hearn, Arizona returns a good number of cornerbacks, including Jace Whittaker, Lorenzo Burns, McKenzie Barnes, Troy Young and Christian Young. The Wildcats are also adding three freshmen in Bobby Wolfe, Christian Roland-Wallace, and Maurice Gaines.
Our expert Gabe Encinas said this position group was in “solid” condition heading into the spring.
“There is a good mix of talent here,” he wrote in March. “Considering how well the group did last season throwing in walk-ons, true freshmen and converted safeties under position coach Demetrice Martin, this group should be just fine.
“We know what Arizona has with Burns and Whittaker, plus the young depth comes back with a bit of experience. There are two new freshman corners with unique talents of their own, and a mix of safeties who have proven that they can play corner as well.”
