Colours mentioned in the section below are approved to be used on ANU websites. Colours for printed publications may differ. Please access the ANU identity Hub or check with our ANU Identity team via Service Desk portal.

The ANU Identity features a restrained colour palette designed for maximum brand recognition.

Background colour

Please note: While designing the landing pages/collaterals - ANU gold should be rarely used as a background colour. It is considered as a key highlight colour, supported by the strong use of black and white. The use of ANU gold should not cover more than 1/8 of the page/banner.

Accessibility

Colour combinations must pass minimal contrast checks (WCAG 2.1 AA) to be considered accessible. Please view 'Accessibility' section for a full set of approved colour combinations.

While all default ANU classes are accessible, it may still be possible to create inaccessible combinations. This is especially important when combining classes to use coloured text on a background colour, such as text-gold on bg-white. Gold text on white background passes AA only when the text size is 24px or greater.

Colour should also not be used as the only visual means of conveying information, indicating an action, prompting a response, or distinguishing a visual element.
