Marvel's Midnight Suns revealed players will face off against Deadpool's sidekick and best friend Bob, Agent of Hydra.

Bob will reportedly appear early in Marvel's Midnight Suns' story campaign, wherein players will fight the Hydra operative in the streets of New York City. A screenshot taken from the game additionally introduces him as Hydra Bob and notes that he specifically joined the terrorist organization for its dental insurance plan, which is likely a reference to the character's backstory in the original comic books.

Created by author Fabian Nicieza and artist Reilly Brown, Bob made his debut in Cable & Deadpool #38 in May 2007. He was introduced as one of many run-of-the-mill Hydra minions, who was only persuaded to enlist in Hydra after his wife berated him for his unstable employment status and his own interest in the terrorist group's offer of a steady paycheck. He eventually changed sides after Deadpool assaulted the Hydra base where he was stationed and coerced Bob into betraying Hydra. Bob knew Hydra would not welcome him back after his treachery and decided to return to the USA alongside his new allies, where he was welcomed as an honorary member of Agency X, a mercenary organization composed of superhuman guns-for-hire.

Bob's relationship with Deadpool was likely considered bizarre by many fans of the Merc with a Mouth. Bob was easily frightened and did not hold considerable power in comparison to other Marvel characters, yet Deadpool frequently brought the former Hydra agent along for perilous missions. The mercenary additionally treated Bob with fluctuating degrees of kindness throughout their interactions, with Deadpool calling Bob his best friend and occasionally regarding him as a "pet." Despite being subjected to Deadpool's flagrant abuse, Bob also displayed surprising loyalty and affection for the mercenary, with Bob even attending Deadpool's wedding in Deadpool Vol 5 #27.

Though Bob will make an early entrance in the base game, Deadpool won't appear in Marvel's Midnight Suns until sometime after its release. The Merc with a Mouth will be packaged as part of a series of post-launch DLC heroes, which will also add Venom, Storm and Morbius to the game's roster of playable characters.

Marvel's Midnight Suns is scheduled for launch on Dec. 2 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Versions for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch will launch sometime in 2023.
