Colour blindness

Dalton also made observations on colour vision.

Since both he and his brother were colour blind, he recognized that this condition must be hereditary.

Genetic analysis of tissue from one of his eyes recently confirmed that Dalton lacked one type of photoreceptor, the one detecting green light.
