Careers at Faber & Faber
Rights Administrator
Faber and Faber are looking for a Rights Administrator. This is a full time, varied and demanding entry-level role to support our busy Rights team for a fixed-term 3 month period, with a starting date as soon as possible.
You will provide administrative support across a wide number of areas. For the Rights Department this will include managing the processing of sub rights contracts from draft to invoice; working directly with foreign, US and domestic publishers to negotiate estimates for production materials, handling mailings, invoice chasing, helping to organise book fairs and trips and providing support for our Permissions department. For the Finance and Commercial Director, you will be responsible for running weekly reports and the role will also involve some administrative work for our Contracts Director.
The successful applicant will have previous office experience in publishing, as well as a keen interest in working in Rights and in the books published by Faber. You will be a fast learner, used to working as a supportive and autonomous member of a team, highly organised, discreet and efficient, and be able to prioritise your work effectively. Experience with Vista and Biblio would be an advantage. You will have excellent IT and administrative skills and the communication skills to liaise with people of all levels, both within the company and externally.
Please apply to Lizzie Bishop with a CV and covering letter to rightsapplication@faber.co.uk by Friday 6th May.

If you would like to research other publishers, we recommend looking at the Writers' and Artists' Yearbook, a comprehensive source for contact addresses, websites and information on the types of books publishers and literary agencies take on, or the website of the Independent Publishers' Guild (www.ipg.uk.com).
The Bookseller and Bookbrunch are the leading trade publications and good sources for publishing industry news and information, plus comment and job listings. Other sites worth investigating include Publishing Perspectives, The Literary Platform, Bookmachine and Bookcareers. If you are eligible, have a look too at the Society of Young Publishers.
