Legal trouble? Lightbox knows a guy, who knows a guy who will take care of it…

If you liked Breaking Bad, you’re going to love this. Online TV service Lightbox has confirmed 2015’s most anticipated TV show – Better Call Saul – will be available exclusively to New Zealand subscribers from 8pm on February 9. The show begins with a special two-night premiere delivered express from the US*.

Better Call Saul, a prequel to the 16-time Emmy-winning drama Breaking Bad, premieres in America on February 8, 2015. Lightbox is fast-tracking each episode so Kiwis can keep up with the action without delay.

Lightbox CEO Kym Niblock says Better Call Saul is already generating a lot of hype around the world and is confident New Zealanders are going to love what they see.

“I’ve seen a few episodes and let’s just say Better Call Saul is the definition of what we mean when we say ‘Lightbox is bringing insanely good TV to New Zealanders’. I can’t reveal too much but with a free 30-day Lightbox trial, it’s easy to join and see what is already being called one of the shows you have to watch in 2015.”

Critics have also been quick to praise the initial episodes of the series with Stephen Marche of Esquire Magazine saying he has never seen a prequel handled so cleverly. “I’m already desperate for more...”

About Better Call Saul
Better Call Saul follows the trials and tribulations of criminal lawyer Saul Goodman with actor Bob Odenkirk set to reprise the lead role.

Set six years before he meets Walter White, the man who will become Saul is known as Jimmy McGill, a small-time lawyer searching for his destiny and more immediately, hustling to make ends meet. Working alongside - and often against - Jimmy is "fixer" Mike Ehrmantraut played by actor Jonathan Banks.

The series, which is dramatic in tone with dark humour woven through, follows Jimmy's transformation in to Saul, the man who puts the "criminal" in criminal lawyer.

Better Call Saul is created by Breaking Bad’s Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould who serve as executive producers along with another series alumnus, Mark Johnson. In addition, Breaking Bad’s lead actor Bryan Cranston will also direct an episode. A second season has already been confirmed.

Better Call Saul is produced by High Bridge and Gran Via Productions in association with Sony Pictures Television.
