After manufacturing a significant number of its state-of-the-art Invero buses to Canadian transit agencies, New Flyer is pleased to announce the first Invero delivery to a US-based transit property, Community Transit in Everett, Washington.
"This marks the beginning of a new era for transit buses in the US," said John Marinucci, President and CEO of New Flyer. "Over the past 75 years, we have become leaders in the North American heavy-duty transit market due to our unwavering commitment to developing innovative products tailored to meet our customers’ needs. Our premium Invero is another example of this commitment. We look forward to delivering many more Inveros to other US customers."
The Invero is designed for maximum passenger comfort and accessibility, improved driver ergonomics and increased ease of maintenance. The Invero incorporates aerodynamic styling for improved curb appeal, has indirect, glare-free lighting, and an improved climate control system. It has more passenger seats and lower operational and maintenance costs than most standard transit buses.
Community Transit has purchased twenty-one 40-foot Inveros and has added features such as suburban reclining seats, reading lights, overhead luggage racks and security cameras to further enhance the passenger and driver experience. Community Transit currently has 203 New Flyer buses in its fleet, and all heavy-duty bus purchases since 1995 have been New Flyer products.
"The Invero is the bus of the future, and we are so proud to bring this bus to Puget Sound," said Joyce Olson, Community Transit CEO. "I have no doubt that our riders and drivers will enjoy the comfort, looks and features of the new Invero. New Flyer did an outstanding job developing this bus that you’re soon going to see all over the country."
New Flyer will complete the production of the Inveros for Community Transit in April. In addition, New Flyer will begin the production of fourteen Inveros for Aspen, Colorado in March, 2005. Inveros are also in service in the Canadian cities of Ottawa, St. Catharines, London and Burlington.
