Saab Automobile AB is a world-renowned Swedish car manufacturer. The company is currently owned and operated by Spyker Cars NV. It was established in 1945 out of the aerospace company, Saab AB. Its first automobile, the Saab 92, was launched in 1949. Saab is headquartered in Trollhättan, Sweden.

With a production output of 32,500 units, the company had annual revenue of SEK 6.301 billion as of 2010.

The Saab logo is one of the most popular and instantly recognizable car logos in the world. It comprises of the head of a griffin – a winged monster with the head of an eagle and the body of a lion - which originates from the official coat of arms of Count von Skane, the company’s founder. The logo was initially introduced as the official badge of the Swedish province of Skane, which is the place of origin of  Saab Automobile AB. Another theory states the Saab logo actually embodies its short-lived merger with Swedish truckmaker Scania.

The Saab logo started appearing on the grill of the company’s vehicles in 1963.
