    Nintendo Co., Ltd. is a famous Japanese global consumer electronics corporation. It was founded in September 1889 by Fusajiro Yamauchi (1859-1940), originally as a manufacturer of handmade hanafuda cards, it gradually developed into a video game giant. Headquartered in Kyoto, Japan, Nintendo is today one of the largest and most influential company in the video gaming industry. According to an estimate, the company has sold more than 654.1 million hardware units and 4.10 billion software units to date.

    With total assets of ¥1.4 trillion as of 2013, the company employs 5,100 people across the world.

    Shape, Color and Font of the Nintendo Logo

    Nintendo is well-known for its aggressive and extensive and rapidly progressive marketing campaign to generate buzz and establish itself as a “family-oriented” brand name. With its famous “ellipse” logo, the Nintendo brand is often credited as one of the world’s most popular and commercially successful entertainment brands.

    The Nintendo logo is a good example of a clean, clear and uncluttered design.

    The current version of the Nintendo logo was introduced in 2006. It features the company’s name in a sans serif typeface, surrounded in a matching gray oval which is equal in width to the stroke weight of the text. The previous logo of the company, with a red oval, was introduced in 1983.

    The use of gray color in the Nintendo logo stands for the joy and sophistication of its products.

    The simplicity and consistency compliments much of the company’s traditional design aesthetic which is strikingly innovative, orderly and forward-looking.
