Société Cartier, more commonly known as Cartier, is one of the world’s most respected manufacturer of watches and jewelry. It was established by the legendary artisan Louis-François Cartier in 1847 in Paris, France after he took over the workshop of his master Adolphe Picard. The company quickly became well-known for its brilliant workmanship and taste.
Cartier is currently a wholly owned subsidiary of Compagnie Financière Richemont SA, a Switzerland-based luxury goods holding company.
