Cadillac is a luxury car brand owned by General Motors. One of the oldest marques in the world, it was founded in 1902 by automotive inventor Henry Martyn Leland and was acquired by General Motors in 1909. The marque is named after Leland’s ancestor whose full name was Antoine Laumet de La Mothe, sieur de Cadillac.

Cadillac is sold in more than in 37 countries worldwide, and as of 2012, its U.S. sales alone were 149,782.

Shape of the Cadillac Logo

The Cadillac logo consists of Le Sieur Antoine De La Mothe Cadillac’s family coat of arms. The top section of the emblem contains a crown which depicts the six ancient counts of France. Above every tip, a pearl is placed which graphically represents descendancy from the royal counts of Toulouse – a cultural center of medieval Europe.

The Cadillac logo has undergone several modifications over the years. Nonetheless, it remains one of the most famous and memorable car logos ever created. The current version, “Wreath & Crest”, was unveiled in 1999.
