GlaxoSmithKline plc (often abbreviated as GSK) is a global British multinational pharmaceutical and healthcare giant based in London, United Kingdom. Widely credited as one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world, it was formed in 2000 as a result of the merger between Glaxo Wellcome plc and SmithKline Beecham plc.

With total assets of £41.080 billion, GSK employs more than 97,389 people worldwide as of 2011.

Shape and Colors of the GSK Logo

The GlaxoSmithKline or GSK logo, similar to that of Pfizer, comprises of a medicine tablet. Another theory states that the emblem actually symbolizes a heart with the company’s name inside the intimate, healthy glow of an orange palette, expressing the company’s care and love for its customers. It was designed by the famous brand counsultancy firm – Futurebrand – soon after the merger took place and GSK needed a new corporate identity.

The GSK logo is undoubtedly one of the most popular and instantly recognizable logos in the pharmaceutical industry.
