Currently headquartered in Hamilton, Bermuda, it was established in February 1862 by Don Facundo Bacardí Massó, a Catalan wine merchant. The company’s portfolio comprises over 200 brands which are sold in more than 150 countries worldwide.

With an annual revenue of US$5 billion as of 2012, Bacardi employs 6,000 people across the globe.

The Bacardi logo is often considered as one of most iconic and widely recognized logos ever created in history. First introduced in 1890, it has undergone various modifications over the years.

According to many experts, it was Amalia – Don Facundo’s wife – who suggested using a bat for Bacardi’s corporate logo. The company is said to have originated from a small tin-roof distillery in Santiago de Cuba with bats in the rafters. Moreover, bats are regarded as a symbol of prosperity, well-being and family unity in Cuban and Spanish lore.

The Bacardi logo comprises of four colors – red, black, gold and white. All these colors signify qualities such as excellence, prestige, purity, refinement, elegance and reliability.
