Maserati is a leading Italian luxury car maker headquartered in Modena, Italy. Founded on December 1, 1914 in Bologna by the Maserati brothers, the company has a current production output of 6,159 units and an annual revenue of €588 million as of 2011.

Maserati has been owned by the Italian automobile giant Fiat S.p.A. since 1993.

The Maserati logo is among the most popular and instantly recognizable car logos in history. It is a traditional emblem of Bologna, the hometown of the founding family and the place where the company’s first plant was built before being shifted to Modena. The current version of the Maserati logo comprises of a white trident on a blue background, symbolizing Neptune’s trident at Bologna’s Piazza Maggiore. The tagline, “Excellence through passion”, in uppercase characters is placed below.

It was unveiled in 1926 when Tipo 26 was launched by Alfieri Maserati.
