One of the world’s most prominent designer apparel brands, it is currently incorporated in Hong Kong. The company was founded in 1982 by the legendary American fashion designer Thomas Jacob Hilfiger. Hong Kong business magnate Silas Chou formed Sportswear Holdings Limited in 1989 with his partner, Lawrence Stroll, to acquire Tommy Hilfiger Corporation. Chou later sold the company to clothing giant Phillips-Van Heusen in 2010 for an estimated €2.5 billion.
With total assets of US$8.7 billion as of 2009, Tommy Hilfiger employs more than 5,500 employees across the globe.
