The Styria-based entrepreneur and marketer Dietrich Mateschitz is credited as the creator of the brand, who founded the company in 1987 in partnership with Chaleo Yoovidhya. They were said to have been impressed by a Thai energy drink named “Krating Daeng”. The official slogan of Red Bull is “Red Bull gives you wings”.

With annual revenue of €4.253 billion as of 2011, Red Bull GmbH employs more than 8,300 worldwide.
