Similar to the company’s name, its logo also has ancient roots. The Volvo logo was designed in the 1950s by Karl-Erik Forsberg, the celebrated Swedish calligrapher, graphic artist and typographer. It comprises of the pre-historic chemical mark of Iron, a circle with a diagonally upwards pointed arrow directing towards the right direction. This archaic insignia also symbolizes “Mars, the God of War”, and quite possibly, the gender symbol denoting “male”.
