Sony Ericsson was a popular mobile handset maker. A joint venture of the Japanese electronics giant Sony Corporation and Swedish telecom company Ericsson, the company established in 2001. It became a leading brand after gaining immense popularity in a very less period of time. While Ericsson was a big name in the telecommunications industry, Sony enhanced its multimedia expertise. As a result, Sony Ericsson became the world’s fourth largest mobile manufacturer.
Sony acquired Ericsson’s share in the venture in February 2012 and the company was renamed as “Sony Mobile Communications AB”.
